Insight Hb Hemoglobin Testing System A
Product Code: C111-3015Efficient and reliable testing for Hb and Hct*
The Insight® Hb Hemoglobin Testing System is intended for the quantitative determination of haemoglobin (Hb) and calculated haematocrit (Hct) in capillary and venous human whole blood. The easy to operate system consists of a portable meter that analyses the intensity and color of light reflected from the reagent area of a test strip, ensuring quick and accurate results.
The Insight® Hb Hemoglobin Testing System provides results in less than 15 seconds and requires only a single drop of whole blood.

Q1. How is a drop of blood obtained?
A1. Thoroughly wash and dry your hands then massage a finger to encourage blood flow. Avoid using your index finger or thumb as these are the digits you use most frequently. Prick the side of the finger with a lancing device. Press gently to encourage a small drop of blood to form. Wipe away the 1st drop of blood. Hold the Capillary Transfer Tube horizontally, and touch the tip to the blood specimen. The Capillary Transfer Tube will automatically draw the sample to the fill line and stop. Do not squeeze to collect specimen.
Q2. How is a drop of blood dispensed?
A2. To dispense the specimen, align the tip of the Capillary Transfer Tube to the target area and squeeze the bulb.
Q3. What is the specimen volume for testing with the Hb Hemoglobin Testing System?
A3. The specimen volume required is approximately 10 µL.
Q4. How quickly will the meter display results?
A4. You will receive accurate results within 15 seconds.
Q5. What is the maximum storage time for specimens?
A5. Venous specimens should be tested within 8 hours of collection. Do not test specimens stored longer than 8 hours. Capillary specimens should be tested immediately if no anticoagulant is used.
Q6. How do I code the Hb Hemoglobin Meter?
A6. The code number is printed on the label on each vial of test strips. Insert the code chip contained in the Starter Kit or in the new box of strips. Check to see if the code on the meter display matches the code number indicated on the test strip vial. If this number is different from the one printed on the test strip vial, replace the code chip that matches the test strip vial code number.
Q7. What is the battery life for the Hb Hemoglobin Meter?
A7. The battery life is 2,700 tests, or 260 hours of continuous use.
Q8. What is the shelf life of the Hb Hemoglobin Test Strips?
A8. The shelf life is 2 years for unopened canisters, and 3 months for opened canisters of Hb Hemoglobin Test Strips.
Q9. Can blood samples with anticoagulants be used?
A9. Yes, fresh, EDTA or heparinised whole blood can be used.
Q10. Can other manufacturers' Hb Hemoglobin Test Strips be used with the Insight® Hb Hemoglobin Testing System?
A10. No, only Insight® Hb Hemoglobin Test Strips can be used with the Insight® Hb Hemoglobin Meter.
Q11. What are the maintenance requirements of the Hb Hemoglobin Testing System?
A11. For best results, the meter should be cleaned after each day of testing.
